The Modernization Work of Ankara: State Art and Sculpture Museum by Arlight
The lighting designs and measurements (stage designs) of the exhibitions saloons of the arts & sculpture museum has been performed to make the building suitable for exhibition of paintings in a suitable structure system of lighting, in the scope of work.
In the design; light sources which has high color renderings (CRI 90), lightning armatures (ARLIGHT MERİÇ MODEL) both direct & indirect of dispersal diffused light which has low UGR value, has been chosen to satisfy the desired comfort and performance. To provide security and different programmings in desired options of scenarios of whole system, capable of two-way communicating modern control systems (DALI) has been improved for their benefits so the system could be watched over and be controlled by “one” administrative center.
It has been programmed to run in a very low level to provide either energy-saving or minimalizing the effects of it on the paintings when the guests are not visiting the exhibition. Minimum security levels has been stablized for the functions of security cameras/security systems’ minimal needings.
Stage designs were performed by special expert luminance cameras to provide the smooth lighting on paintings which is the most important element of design. Creation of scenarios and, results of measurings has been reported to provide high smoothness in horizontal & vertically has been gained by direct and indirect charecteristic diffused light dispersal and the advantages of general lighting designings of the armatures.
In the view of design criterias; the smoothness values (Min/Max) = (0,33 – 0,50) has been foresighted on the paintings which should be beter on twice value in many points. After all getting these results, workings has ben finished. At the end of the design and programming workings, over 0,90 smoothness has been obtained on the both vertical and horizontal axes in many volumes of the wall surface. In this manner, the provide of very high smoothness values on the active painting surfaces has been identified.
3 different scenarios were created fort he exhibition of paintings that were created in this concept:
1. Scenario: 30 – 50 Lux Vertical
2. Scenario: 150 – 200 Lux Vertical, for sculpture areas: in horizontal: 300 Lux
3. Scenario: 300 Lux Vertical
